Active Storm Advisory -Tropical Depression Sixteen Advisory #5A

Tropical Depression 16 should become a tropical storm in the next 12 hours, and may intensify into a Category 1 hurricane as it moves northward across the Gulf of Mexico this weekend.

Active Storm Advisory -Tropical Depression Sixteen Advisory #6

The maximum sustained winds of Tropical Depression 16 remain at 30 knots. The forecast has changed very little over the last 6 hours. Strengthening into a tropical storm is likely over the next 12 hours. A general path towards the northeast tip of Honduras, northern Yucatan, and central and eastern US Gulf Coast is forecast.

Given satellite trends, Tropical Depression Sixteen may strengthen into a tropical storm later on this morning. Further intensification into a minimal hurricane is possible prior to reaching the Yucatan.

Tropical Depression 16 has not intensified overnight. Land interaction may hinder development in the short term, but gradual intensification into a tropical storm within 24 hours is anticipated. The track has been shifted slightly towards the west, and is faster between days 3-5.
