Greece Strikes

Panhellenic Seamen Association have also announced they will go on a 48 hrs’ strike, on 16th May 2017.

Tug Boat Labor Unions in Piraeus (which are the ones operating as well at Eleusis, Aspropyrgos and Pachi Megara) have still not announced whether they will strike. However, the rumors are that they are probably going to go on a couple of 4 hours’ strikes, from 06:00 to 10:00 on 16.05.2017 and from 06:00 to 10:00 on 17.05.2017. If that happens, no operations (such as shifting, berthing, unberthing, handysize vessels’ channel passage) will be carried out during those hours and on the next hours, port will have quite some traffic to handle.

It seems Hellenic Petroleum Labor Union will go on strike normally on 17th May. It is still not clear how this will affect vessels, but for the time, it seems that vessels berthed at their Terminals will not be able to unberth or unberth, while whether they will be allowed to carry on with the operations (loading and discharging) that will have started by the beginning of strike, remains to be decided.
