Day 1 – The southern and central plains will see a wintry mix likely throughout the day and into the evening with freezing rain and sleet. From eastern Texas and into the lower Mississippi River Valley, excessive rainfall is likely with 2 to 4 inches. Over Louisiana, strong to severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening with damaging winds and an isolated tornado as the primary severe weather threats.
Day 2 – The winter weather is forecast to move to the northeast into the Upper Midwest with moderate snowfall and a light wintry mix will be possible. From the Southern Plains into the Ohio Valley, the front is expected to remain in place with heavy rainfall continuing.
