As quoted by the websites, The United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Bahrain announced today, 5th June 2017, Monday, that they were severing diplomatic ties with Qatar, as tensions escalate in the region over accusations Doha sponsors terrorism.
Orders have been given for all Egyptian and Saudi Arabian ports and airports to close for Qatari vessels and planes and UAE and Bahrain to follow soon.
However, as we understand, the orders have not trickled down into the implementation phase as yet.
Bahrain, UAE and Saudi ports have still not come up with any circular regarding the implementation of the same.
As per our discussion with Port authorities, they were still awaiting clarity, before which a decision on closure shall be made.
Through our sources, we understand that, UAE ports shall close its entry to any Qatari nationals in 24 hours.
Obscurity still exist interms of Foreign flag vessels Trading between any of these countries and Qatar.
Qatar flagged vessels are likely to be banned from entering ports in these countries.
While we expect direct discharging or loading from any of the above countries to Qatar could have some restrictions, this would likely be known over the course of time.
Part loading or discharging from multiple countries wherein Qatar is included could also have some restrictions, wherein port authorities may place restrictions through declared last and next port of calls.
Extent of ban is not known and is still a speculation only.
