Please see the attached Tropical Daily Planner – Atlantic for Friday, July 14, 2017.
A series of upper lows and trough are generating unfavorable conditions in the form of moderate shear and dry air aloft across much of the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and southwestern Atlantic. Farther east, a weak tropical wave is positioned midway between the coast of Africa and the Lesser Antilles. This wave is poorly organized, and has shown no signs of development. A large plume of dry, Saharan air and dust has infiltrated the deep tropics as far south as 10N in this area. Dry, sinking air should continue to suppress this wave, and the Intertropical Convergence Zone. Guidance shows a continuation of unfavorable conditions through the forecast period. Tropical development is unlikely over the next five days.
