Feature 18L’s development chances have passed and no longer expected to pose any threat of organizing. As such, it has been removed as a feature from over the Bay of Campeche. Feature 19L is a strong tropical wave tracking off the west coast of Africa, with development chances expected to increase beyond 48 hours as environmental conditions improve. Main concerns continue to be Hurricane Irma, which is now maintaining sustained winds of 100 knots. Irma will be tracking through marginally favorable conditions the next few days and is expected to change little. Beyond 72 hours, however, Irma should move into more favorable conditions consisting of warm sea-surface temperatures and decreasing shear, and is expected to intensify further.
