Please see the attached Tropical Daily Planner – Atlantic for Thursday, September 07, 2017.
Hurricane Irma has maintained Category 5 intensity through the overnight hours. Major hurricane impacts are forecast across portions of the Bahamas, Florida, and potentially even points farther north over the next five days. Hurricane Jose, located east of the Lesser Antilles, continues to intensify. Further development into a major hurricane is forecast over the next 24-36 hours. Over the past day, guidance has trended closer towards the Leeward Islands, and all interests within this region should monitor Jose closely. Hurricane Katia, a compact storm in the southwest Bay of Campeche, may also make a run towards major hurricane status shortly before making landfall across the Mexican coast. The remainder of the tropics are quiet with no additional development anticipated over the next 5 days.
