Please see the attached Tropical Daily Planner – Atlantic for Thursday, October 05, 2017.
Tropical Depression Sixteen continues to show signs of organization and slow intensification. Further development is likely over the next several days leading up to a landfall along the central or eastern US Gulf Coast. Elsewhere, an upper low is interacting with a broad trough of low pressure at the surface near southern Florida and the Bahamas. Strong wind shear will inhibit development as both of these features continue to move westward across the northern Gulf of Mexico. Farther east, widespread showers and thunderstorms are present northeast and east of the Antilles. However, atmospheric conditions are not favorable for development. Additional tropical cyclone formation is unlikely over the next 5 days.
